Pre-Requisites

 
An iHomeServerâ„¢ for iTunes installation requires the following pre-requisites:
 
  1. A computer (PC or server) running one of the following supported version of Windows:

        - Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP (32-bit / 64-bit; note Windows XP must have Service Pack 2)
        - Windows Server 2003 / 2008, 2012 (32-bit / 64-bit)
        - Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2
        - Windows Server 2012 Essentials
        - Windows Home Server 2011
        - Windows Home Server v1
     
  2. An installation of a supported version of iTunes - click here for detailed steps:
        - currently iTunes 10.x - 11.1.4 have been tested and are supported
     
  3. If installing as iTunes a Windows Service: An installation of a supported version of QuickTime Player - click here for detailed steps:
        - currently QuickTime 7 is supported; the latest patch release is recommended
              - note QuickTime is only required if you are planning to run iHomeServer/iTunes as a Windows Service.  Running iHomeServer in desktop mode does not require QuickTime.
     
  4. Microsoft .NET 3.5 or .NET 4.0 (with all latest service packs)
     
  5. Handbrake (available from http://handbrake.fr) is also required if you would like iHomeServer to automate your Video Conversions or DVD/Blu-Ray Ripping
     

If you are installing iHomeServer for iTunes on a home server, note that it is not necessary to install a sound card in your server.  Please see Playing Your Media for further information on how to play the media on a server.
