Known Limitations

Note there are some known limitations with Library Synchronisation.  These are discussed below:

1. DRM

Although synchronisation will copy DRM content between computers, only media files that are NOT protected with DRM or Apple FairPlay will be playable by the target computer unless that computer also contains a valid DRM license for the media.  Most audio tracks downloaded from the iTunes Store since 2009 have not used DRM so should play fine, however, Apple still uses DRM for movie/television shows that are purchased from the Apple Store so these may not be synchronised correctly.  Media that you have added to iTunes itself, eg via Handbrake encoding, should be ok.

2. Network access

Only iHomeServer servers within the same IP subnet can participate in iHomeServer Library Synchronisation.  This is a restrcition for your security as there is no authentication for Library Synchronisation clients.
